Howest offers 30 professional bachelor’s degrees, 13 associate degrees, and 10 full programmes taught in English, along with 28 English-taught exchange semesters.

Team members

Brian Baert has a background in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence (algorithmic). At Howest he lectures classes on (applied) mathematics, statistics, machine learning and deep learning.
He is affiliated with the Applied Computer Science and Secondary Teacher Education programmes at Howest.
Falke Mally teaches fundamental and advanced market research courses at Howest, guiding students in survey design, qualitative research, data analysis, and turning insights into strategic recommendations.
Before joining Howest, she worked as a Retail Consultant for one of Belgium’s top distributors and as Customer Marketer and Brand Manager at Alpro, where she conducted market, panel, and brand perception studies.


Frédéric Vlummens specializes in analysing and developing web and business applications. He focuses on bridging the gap between IT and the business world. Before Sherlock, he also participated in the Erasmus+ supported projects Consume Aware and BrandY.
He teaches in the Applied Computer Science and Cyber Security programmes at Howest.
Lieven Theys lectures courses within the Business Management programme at Howest. He also coordinates the internationalisation of the programme and oversees English-taught semesters, welcoming exchange students from partner institutions worldwide.
Before taking on his current role, Lieven held several educational support positions, including programme coordinator for Business Management and coordinator of external postgraduate courses. He has also contributed to Erasmus+ projects such as Consume Aware and BrandY, focusing on consumer awareness and experiential brand management education.
